Best Practices
ThePort’s Points 2.0 Recognition Engine incentivizes your members to participate in the Social Community by earning points and badges for completing various community activities. Best Practices when using this feature are:
Assign points to activities that you and your organization wants people to partake in over others. I.E.: if creating a Discussion Topic or Reply is where you want to drive engagement you should assign a higher point value to these 2 activities over others.
Create badges/badge titles that coincide with your community theme/vision/style.
Don't be afraid to 'go for it'. Turning on points is always a 'good thing'. You can always change point totals/badges/badge titles in the future.
Use the points report to your advantage! This is how you can identify the major contributors and thought leaders in your community. Make sure to:
Thank those members! They are helping make your community a vibrant one and contributing content that keeps others coming back!
Take those users offline to ask them to write a 'featured blog' or offer up ideas for a new program or improvement/engagement opportunities
