Differentiating between community and group events with APIs

Hi, my web developers are having problems creating API event feeds. We need to be able to pull a community event feed, which they have figured out, but we also need to pull event feeds for our individual affiliates, each of which has it's own group with events associated with that group specifically. Our community is my.youngsurvival.org, and you can see that we have seeded both the community calendar and the Atlanta affilaite with sample events.

As background, this is the last information I received from the Port and passed on to my developers with their comments.

From the Port: "Sorry about that. I think I understand now. Your developers are looking for all the Events that are ‘children’ of specific groups. Right now that parameter is not exposed in the GetSocialObject API, no. So, it would be a feature request.

Today, they’d have to do it by the Social Object ID’s of those specific events. I hope this helps."

And this is what my developers responded with:

To receive all events:
http://services.theport.com/REST/V1/SocialObjectTypes/1386/SocialObjects?devkey=a855a44d591b4b87a1a601dc0e71eea75f87599245bed480a7048db15328b88c7331d2d28ec0e6b0&sortby=DateCreated
It doesn’t return any data that can be used to determine which affiliate each event belongs to.
2. The second one is being used to receive the details of an individual event:
http://services.theport.com/REST/V1/SocialObjects/575111?devkey=a855a44d591b4b87a1a601dc0e71eea75f87599245bed480a7048db15328b88c7331d2d28ec0e6b0
But again it doesn’t return any data about the affiliate it belongs to.

So we don’t really have any way to link events and affiliates.

In our early discussions, I was assured that this would be possible and have since built the affilaite event calendars on our soon to launch new website around this assumption so any help would greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hi,

I've got a question regarding pulling out events from database to show them outside of the port system. We have main website and community site with Port system. And we will have events in our community website, which should also be shown in different places of our website.
How do I manage to do that? Is there a way of doing so?

I have the "RemoteCommentingDocumentation" pdf. Also, I've managed to use the Javascript APIs to add generic existing community content onto a page external to our The Port installation. But I'm at a loss on where to begin with a specific Remote Commenting implementation for a specific page. Maybe there's additional documentation that I haven't seen?

If we wanted to implement a commenting feature on a specific page (say, an item in our ecommerce system), do I need to create some kind of entry for it in a community space? Should I start a community that will house all of our ecommerce items and add them as documents or blog entries? Do you have an example or outline of steps to begin this process?

Thanks!
