On June 11th at 5:00am, ThePort Network will have a ‘Quarterly Release’ to all communities. This will be a High Impact/Medium Risk release and will include the following enhancements and bug fixes:

New/Improved Functionality:

Polling – a new feature that allows community and social space administrators to create, monitor and measure the results of polls.

Email Provider Options - ThePort will now provide support for choosing between internal SMTP and third-party e-mail providers.

Discussions – several updates to the Discussions product.

• Created widgets that consolidate activity across all community discussions
• Remembering unread posts / topics with unread posts
• Updates to discussions view category and blog view category
• Improvements to discussions admin panel screen
• End users can now remove own topics
• User signature now appears on original topic posts
• Quote button now appears on original topic posts
• Updated main discussions landing page
• New discussions search input and search results page
• Discussions will respect the time zone that the end user has set on their browser.4.

Localization of Global Widget Library - override the naming of the global widget categories and category descriptions on the community homepage.

Upgrade of CKEditor to latest version (v3.5.3) – our Wysiwyg Editor that is found throughout the community has been upgraded to the newest CKEditor version.

Reply Sent Dialog - Sending a Private Message now notifies the sender that the message was successfully sent.

Activity Feed Consolidation - The My Friends and My Groups activity feeds (on the User Dashboard) are now consolidated into one feed called ‘My Connections’.

Meta Tag Description and Keywords – SEO capabilities that allow external search engines to index your community.
Report Engine: Ability for clients to request canned reporting on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis. Email notifications are sent to users when a report is ready with a link to the report (in a .csv format) in admin. 30 days of reports are housed in the admin panel.


Bug Fixes:
  • Fixed issues with Social Object profile pages showing a “whoops” error page for some of our communities.
  • Comment Email Notifications are working again for Social Object Admins.
  • Comment Email Notifications – the Event Name link that appears in the email notification will now take the user to the Activity Updates tab instead of the About tab.
  • When sending multiple invites for an Event, all members are now joined to the event when they choose to attend via the invite email.
  • Popular Events Module now only displays 2 Events as designed.
  • Popular Events Module – when a user clicks the “view more” link, the correct results will display.
  • Don't show group tabs on search page if they're not enabled.
  • Fixed an issue with message replies not working correctly.
  • EST/EDT time zone change
  • Users that register via Facebook will no longer get an email registration confirmation.
  • ‘Show more’ button no longer displays for comments that are less than 500 characters.
  • Default user privacy settings are now working correctly.
  • Community Calendar – when you click on a specific date within the community calendar, you will now only see events scheduled for that date in the pop-up.
  • Blogs can now easily be disabled in our communities.
